This template Bicycle Access Plan is being provided as a resource to owners of commercial buildings covered by the Section 402 of the San Francisco Environment Code (“Tenant Bicycle Parking in Existing Commercial Buildings” Ordinance).

Per the Ordinance, owners of commercial buildings who wish to prescribe specific details and limitations on bicycle access to the subject building shall complete a Bicycle Access Plan, and make the Plan available to tenants of the building by notifying employees about the prescribed route and posting the Plan or route diagram in the lobby.

This Ordinance will encourage cycling by assuring that there is a safe and secure place for cyclists to store their bicycles while at work, and will help San Francisco reduce emissions, improve air quality, and ease congestion on its roads.
